Linux expertise for planned projects and maintenance.

DVSys helps MSPs and small businesses review, improve and document their Linux servers. Get a read-only audit, a defined automation or migration project, or scheduled monthly maintenance — with scope, cost and deliverables agreed before work starts.

The problem

When Linux maintenance keeps getting postponed

Linux servers usually get attention when something breaks. Until then, the same quiet risks accumulate:

  • Security patches months behind, and no scheduled window to apply them
  • Backups that run every night — but have never been test-restored
  • Monitoring that sends alerts to nobody, or to an inbox nobody reads
  • Old user accounts, keys and sudo rights that were never cleaned up
  • Certificates that expire on a Friday night
  • Nobody who can say, in one page, what is running where and why

Start with a review and a written plan. Agree which work belongs in a scheduled project and who is responsible for urgent issues between maintenance windows.

Services

Three ways to work with DVSYS

2) Scheduled Linux Maintenance — from $250 CAD/month + HST

From $250 CAD/month: up to 2 Linux servers and 2 hours of scheduled work per month, after an audit.

  • One agreed monthly maintenance window; patching prioritized within the included time
  • Review of backup job results; restore tests are scoped and quoted separately
  • Review of monitoring configuration during the window; you or your MSP retain responsibility for live alerts and incidents
  • A short monthly report: what was patched, what was checked, what needs attention
  • The 2-hour allowance includes preparation, changes, verification and the report; unused time does not roll over

Additional work requires a separate approved quote. No uptime or response-time SLA. Monthly plan, 30 days’ notice to cancel. Maintenance is scheduled in advance, 7–10 pm Toronto time (ET).

3) Scoped Linux projects — from $100 CAD/hour + HST

Automation, upgrades and migrations with a defined finish line.

  • Scheduled investigation of performance or recurring issues; no emergency incident response
  • Hardening and configuration reviews (SSH, web stack, Docker, TLS)
  • Automation with Ansible and documented runbooks
  • Migration and upgrade planning for Linux servers

Two-hour minimum for hourly work. Each project has a written scope, deliverables, exclusions, acceptance criteria and an agreed price or hour cap. Changes to scope require approval before extra work starts.

Process

A clear process, in four steps

  1. Step 1 — Intro call (20 minutes).

We confirm the environment, business goal, server count, deadline, private-sector end client and your incident owner. We check fit and availability before agreeing a scope. Projects can start directly when the requirements are clear; an audit is required for monthly maintenance.

  2. Step 2 — Agree scope and access.

We agree the scope, price, delivery date and authorized access in writing. For an audit, inspection is read-only: nothing is changed, restarted or installed. For a project, changes and rollback steps are approved before implementation.

  3. Step 3 — Deliver and document.

For an audit, receive evidence-backed findings and a prioritized 30/60/90-day plan, reviewed on a short call. For a project, receive the agreed implementation, verification results and handover documentation.

  4. Step 4 — Fix and maintain (your choice).

Implement the plan with your team, your current provider, or DVSYS (project quote or hourly). If you want ongoing care, the Scheduled Linux Maintenance plan starts from a known, documented baseline — the audit.

Why DVSYS

Linux operations with clear scope and documentation

  • Based in Ottawa: DVSYS Inc. serves private-sector clients remotely across Canada, with written scopes and Canadian-dollar invoices.
  • Direct technical contact: work with the founder on the agreed Linux scope, from the initial review to the handover.
  • The stack you actually run: Linux across distributions (Ubuntu, Debian and RHEL-family), Ansible, Docker and Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, Icinga, OpenSearch, and end-to-end TLS/certificate management.
  • Written, not verbal: every engagement produces documentation — reports, inventories, runbooks — that stays with you, not with the consultant.
  • Bilingual service: service available in English and Spanish.
  • Conservative by design: read-only first, changes one at a time, with a rollback in mind. Production stability comes before speed.

For partners

For MSPs and web agencies

Already look after your clients’ IT or websites?

Need Linux expertise alongside your Windows, Microsoft 365 or web team? Use DVSys for a server review, an Ansible automation task, or a planned upgrade or migration. White-label reports are available by agreement. You retain the client relationship and handle live alerts, urgent incidents and daytime support. End-client contact happens only through the arrangement you approve.

Before access, we agree the authorized systems, end client, work window, escalation contact, deliverables and handover. Engagements are subject to a conflict-of-interest check.

FAQ

FAQ

Do you provide 24/7 support or emergency response?

No. Introductory and project review calls are scheduled between 3 and 5 pm Toronto time (ET). Technical work is scheduled between 7 and 10 pm ET, with changes and any required client participation agreed in advance. Both are by appointment and subject to availability. These windows do not provide live support or a guaranteed response time. Your team or MSP must own urgent incidents and alerts outside the agreed technical work.

Will the audit disrupt or slow down our servers?

The audit is designed to minimize disruption. It is read-only: configuration files are read, status commands are run, and evidence is collected. Nothing is installed, changed or restarted. If a check could add load (for example, a large log review), it is agreed with you first or skipped.

What access do you need?

A named, individual account with read-only or audit-level permissions wherever possible, protected by SSH key and MFA where your setup supports it. No shared root passwords, ever. Access is removed by you at the end of the engagement — the offboarding step is part of the report.

Can you sign an NDA?

An NDA can be reviewed and agreed before access is granted. Evidence collected during an audit is stored securely, used only for your report, and deleted or returned at the end of the engagement, as agreed in writing.

Who actually does the work?

The founder, based in Ottawa. Any proposed subcontracting or specialist involvement must be agreed with you before access or work begins.

What is NOT included in the audit?

No fixes or configuration changes (those are quoted separately once you have the report); no penetration testing or vulnerability exploitation; no application code review; no work on systems outside the agreed scope; and no emergency incident response during the audit window. The report records findings within the agreed scope. It is not a penetration test, compliance certification or guarantee that all vulnerabilities have been found.

Do you require the retainer after the audit?

No. The report and the 30/60/90 plan are yours to implement with anyone. Monthly maintenance is optional and limited to scheduled work. It does not include continuous monitoring or incident response.

Where are you located, and where do you work?

Ottawa, Ontario. All services are delivered remotely to private-sector clients across Canada. Services are remote only. DVSys does not accept federal public-sector engagements, including through intermediaries. Other engagements are subject to a conflict-of-interest check before acceptance.

How do we pay?

Canadian invoicing through DVSYS Inc. The audit is 50% to book and 50% on report delivery. Retainers are billed monthly in advance. Payment details are on the invoice.
